Welcome!

Welcome to my page!

This blog serves to share my experiences with Essential Oils both for myself, and my animals.  I have recently started my journey into Essential Oil wonderland and figured if I could chronicle all that I'm doing with them, that this may help people who are a little lost when they first get that starter kit, or who are interested in trying them out with their animals!

Let me first introduce myself- my name is Natalie and I best fit into the equestrian category of "serious adult amateur."  I compete in Eventing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eventing) on a former racehorse named Harley that I am training myself with the help of my instructor and a few clinicians.  I also have a young mustang named Spirit, who came off the range at 6 months old.  She is somewhere around 3 years old now, and I plan on starting her myself (with some help and advice!) in the late summer/fall.  I have two dogs that I love as my children, I have a Border Collie/German Shepherd/Hound mix that is smart as a whip and learns things faster than I can teach them to her and a Chesapeake Retriever mix that makes up for her apparent lack of intelligence by being the most loving, cuddly, joyful, thankful dog I have ever met.  I am extremely blessed to have such wonderful animals in my life, and that I have parents and a sibling that are very supportive of my hobby-turned-obsession.

I was first introduced to essential oils when my mom (who is also an equestrian) suggested I try a tea tree/organic apple cider vinegar combination to combat skin fungus and irritation with the horse I was riding at the time.  I was not terribly disappointed with the results, but continually sought out other options that may work faster.  Had I known at the time that the quality of the essential oils you use is paramount, I may have saved a ton of money!!

Fast forward a few years later, I started a new job and in the process of getting to know my coworkers discovered that my team-lead's wife was into essential oils.  Even then, I still wasn't game to try, it seemed too expensive, not researched enough, you name it, I used it as an excuse.  Then one day my coworker brought in a fruit smoothie that his wife had made with Peppermint EO.  I have an allergy to raw fruits and vegetables, so I politely declined.  Funny thing about our office, it's terribly competitive.  After much joking about taking "shots" of this very strong peppermint/fruit concoction, my inner college idiot came out and I decided to try it.  As I braced myself for the itchy discomfort that my pride had earned me, I noticed that nothing was happening.  No sore throat, no itching, nothing.  I immediately asked if I could buy the allergy trio from his wife.  This was followed by Eczema cream for my dry skin and bumpy arms (which was a lifesaver during an impromptu trip to Arizona), and then my own kit to experiment with.

Since succumbing to the fascinating and healthful way of the Essential Oil community (through Young Living) I have found that it has positively impacted my life in many ways, especially with my horses.  Lavender and Stress Away have been a livesaver with Harley, who can be overly emotional and energetic.  Our schools for upcoming competitions have become much less frustrating, and my hopes for our success at our competitions is at an overall high!  I hope that you'll follow me and Harley through our journey with Young Living Essential Oils, and maybe even join us!

Thanks for the visit!
